About Us

What is Inspiration Station?

Inspiration Station is a traditional Montessori school serving Wichita families for 16 years.

We offer two programs for your child.

A Preschool Program and a Parent-Tot Class

What will Inspiration Station offer?

Your child will be inspired to want to learn in a loving, respectful, consistent, engaging and fully equipped educational environment.

Environment: Beautiful, healthy, environmentally friendly building; built with renewable, non-toxic materials such as AgriboardTM and American ClayTM
Outdoor classroom gardens: The children will be able to choose outdoor lessons during work time
Work time: Freedom to choose activities in the environment
Presentations to individuals and small groups in all areas of the room
Group time:
A time for singing, moving, as well as exciting group lessons that enhance language development and your child’s knowledge in Music, Art, Science and Geography

Exciting Extracurriculars

Parents receive a video at the end of school that captures special moments of their child’s learning. Inspiration Station offers three parties throughout the year for parents to mingle with other parents and watch their children sing songs or engage in their favorite activities.

COVID-19

Because of the Coronavirus/Covid-19 pandemic, we are all living through some trying times. Please be assured that we at I.S. take the safety and health of your child/children and the staff's health very seriously. In our preparations we have been in close contact with our local health department surveyors to brainstorm best practice procedures that take into account our unique program and our small community. From their guidance as well as from recommendations from the CDC and KDHE, we have been preparing the physical environment, modifying our daily routines to encourage more open space, researching and purchasing the best cleaning materials for our environments, and collaborating with all staff (including Compass Star Montessori) on best practices with respect to minimizing exposure to Covid-19.

What Is Montessori?

The Montessori "method" is based on the idea that children have all the qualities that are needed to develop themselves. If they are allowed to develop fully, they will not only bring happiness to themselves but will be the kind of people who will want to serve mankind. It is a philosophy in which the child learns best within a social environment that supports each individual's unique development.

How Does Montessori Help a Child Develop?

In a Montessori environment there are a diverse set of Montessori materials, activities and experiences, which are designed to foster physical, intellectual, creative, and social independence. In the Montessori classroom children are free to walk around the room and choose materials and ask for demonstrations that they want. The Montessori classroom is very hands-on. It emphasizes learning for all five senses, not just listening, watching, or reading. Children learn at their own pace through an exciting process of discovery, leading to concentration, motivation, self-discipline, and love of learning.
